Yes! The Historic Elgin Hotel is a popular venue for intimate weddings, elopements, private dinners, and corporate retreats, with full-service event planning available.

The Historic Elgin Hotel is located in Marion, Kansas, just 60 minutes from Wichita, offering a luxury stay in a beautifully restored 1886 limestone building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

What types of weddings can your venue accommodate?
Our venue can accommodate wedding ceremonies in the ballroom or the courtyard of up to 100 guests. Our ballroom can seat up to 75 guests for a reception featuring a plated meal or 64 guests if the meal will be served buffet style. We also offer a mid-century ballroom across the street from the hotel. This ballroom comfortably seats 120 guests with a plated or buffet-style meal.
Is the venue available year-round?
Absolutely! Our venue is available for weddings throughout the year, with both indoor and outdoor spaces to suit any season. The beautiful thing is that you get both the ballroom and courtyard when you book your wedding at the Elgin so you can plan an outdoor ceremony and have a rain plan for no additional charge.
How much does it cost to host my wedding at the Elgin?
Our wedding pricing varies depending on the time of year, day of the week, and the services you choose. While we offer a handful of packages, we would be happy to provide a detailed quote based on your specific needs. Please contact us to discuss your wedding, and we’ll offer personalized pricing.
What kind of deposit is required to book my wedding at the Elgin?
To hold your date, we request a $500 non-refundable deposit. Following the receipt of this, we will send you a contract to review. You will have 7 days to review the contract and pay 50% of your total wedding package. Once this 50% deposit is received, the original $500 deposit converts to a refundable security deposit and will be refunded within 7 days following your wedding as long as there is no damage to the property and all contract terms are fulfilled.
What is your Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy?
We understand that life happens and will work with you to reschedule your wedding or find an alternative solution. In the event of a cancellation, payments made to date are non-refundable. Please review your contract for the specific refund and rescheduling policy.
Do I need to book all 12 suites when reserving the hotel for my wedding?
No. While all 12 suites must be reserved by guests attending your wedding, they do not need to be booked or paid for by you. We offer a Group Block option, which ensures that only guests attending your wedding are able to reserve suites. This allows us to ensure you have full reign of the facility for your wedding celebration. You would be responsible for any suites that are not booked from the Group Block.
Can we bring our own vendors?
Yes, we welcome outside vendors such as photographers, florists, caterers, bartenders, and entertainers. Additionally, we also offer a list of preferred partners who are familiar with our venue and can ensure a seamless experience for your big day.
Do you have a wedding coordinator on-site?
Yes, included with most of our packages is an on-site day-of wedding coordinator who will assist you with the organization of your vendors, ceremony and reception. It's our goal to make sure your special day runs smoothly, efficiently, and stress-free.
Can we schedule a tour of the venue?
Absolutely! We encourage couples to schedule a private complimentary tour of our facility. It’s a great opportunity to see the venue spaces and hotel in person and discuss your event needs. Please contact us to book a tour at a time that is convenient for you.
Can we decorate the venue ourselves?
Yes, you're welcome to decorate the venue. There are a few things that we do not allow such as hanging anything on the walls, open flames, confetti, artificial rose petals in the courtyard. Please refer to your contract for specifics regarding decorations. We also offer rental of decor, china, flatware, glassware, and linens to save you money and time.
Do you offer catering services?
The Historic Elgin Hotel does not offer in-house catering; however, Parlour 1886, our on-site restaurant does provide full catering services. Their team can create a customized wedding menu to fit your vision, from elegant plated dinners to buffet-style options. They are also happy to accommodate dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan selections. In addition, we can provide a list of trusted local caterers we’ve worked with throughout the region to give you even more flexibility.
Can we bring our own food and drink?
Yes! The Elgin has an open catering policy and allows you to bring your own food and drink or your own vendors to provide those services. If you are serving alcohol, we recommend hiring a licensed bartender to ensure your guests drink responsibly.
Does the hotel have free parking and Wi-Fi?
Yes, we offer free on-site and on-street parking and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
What time can we start our wedding ceremony or reception?
This depends on the package you select. Please make sure you indicate the time frame you wish to begin your ceremony or reception prior to signing the contract.
Do you provide restrooms for the wedding guests?
Yes, we have restrooms in our foyer adjacent to the ballroom. The restrooms are just a short distance from the courtyard.
Can I host a rehearsal at the venue?
A rehearsal can be arranged for an additional fee.
Are pets allowed at the hotel?
While we are avid pet lovers, the hotel is not pet-friendly to preserve the historic furnishings and ensure a peaceful environment for all guests.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes! We have a wheelchair entrance in the front of the facility and we have an elevator that services all 3 floors.
Can I book the entire hotel for a private event?
Yes, full hotel buyouts are available for weddings, parties, reunions, or group getaways. Contact us for availability and custom packages.
What are some fun things to do in Marion, KS?
Enjoy antique shopping, golfing, walking the historic downtown, and visiting nearby historic landmarks. Enjoy the nearby Marion County Lake or Marion Reservoir for swimming, boating, skiing, kayaking and fishing. Day trips are also fun to nearby towns like Hillsboro, Cottonwood Falls, Council Grove, Newton, McPherson or Lindsborg. Guests also love our on-site library, game room, and outdoor courtyard.
Is the Historic Elgin Hotel near Wichita, Kansas City, Tulsa or Oklahoma City?
We are located in central Kansas. We're just 60 minutes from Wichita, approximately 2-2.5 hours from Kansas City, and approximately 3 hours from Oklahoma City or Tulsa - perfect for a centralized Midwest wedding.

The hotel is located approximately 1 hour from I-70 at Abilene or Junction City.

- Treated like royalty!If you want to be swept away and feel like you are being treated like royalty, this is the place for you. I have never had any Hotel owner be as concerned and involved with the satisfaction of your stay as I was at the historic Elgin. Every room was immaculate, there was absolutely no smell, even though it's a historic hotel. Beds were comfortable, towels were fluffy. Just everything was absolutely perfect. If you want to have an experience of a lifetime stay here.

- An authentic 1886 GemThe Elgin Hotel is a gem with its authentic quaintness from an 1886 hotel. The staff was timely and efficient from booking through our stay. We have been coming to Marion for many decades to stay at our family cabin on the County Lake. We have been hearing about the Elgin Hotel being a premier place to stay and we decided to check it out. Wow, we loved it. We really enjoyed the Elgin Memoir room on the third floor. It felt like we stepped back in history. My wife loved the sheets and was able to buy a set from the hotel.
