Marion County Lake sits just outside town and feels like a peaceful escape. Walk the shoreline or cast a line.  Pack a picnic and grab a shady spot under the trees. The lake was built in the 1930s by the WPA during the Great Depression. The initial goal was to put men to work and conserve our natural resources. However, it remains a favorite with locals today.
